Goal 1: Better understand the needs of low-income and Indigenous communities experiencing food access and food security challenges within San Juan and Sandoval Counties.Objectives: (1.1) Perform research on food access/food security and community and food production assets by Month 10; (1.2) Complete Community Foods Security (CFS) Assessment reports for Sandoval and San Juan Counties by month 10; (1.3) Document recommended adaptations for conducting CFS Assessments with an Indigenous approach and best practices for engagement with Native American community members and farmers.Goal 2: Create sector linkages and a common vision and values for a long-term comprehensive response to food security and food sovereignty needs in focus regions.Objectives: (2.1) Create an Indigenous Food Council for New Mexico by month 3; (2.2) Engage at least 100 community members and stakeholders in input activities by month 7; (2.3) Document vision and values by month 7.Goal 3: Design specific community food projects that support healthy and sustainable food systems, food security and nutrition, and success of Indigenous agricultural producers.Objectives: (3.1) Assess operational, design, and financial needs for a shared food hub in Sandoval County during the grant year; (3.2) Evaluate feasibility and options for a Native American Farmers Market, multi-supplier CSA, farmer cooperative, and models lifted by community engagement, deciding on options to move forward with by month 11; (3.3) Create a plan for a regional food hub in Sandoval County and determine options to connect San Juan farmers to that hub or the existing hub in San Juan County by month 12; (3.4) Create a preliminary logic model for the Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program (CFPCGP) implementation project by month 12.
