Partnership for Food Safety Certification Over the WorldWide Web

Food safety training for renewal of Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) will be required as of October 1, 1999. Completion of a five-hour FSSMC Refresher Course is an option for renewal. A partnership between the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service, the Illinois Department of Public Health,and the Illinois Restaurant Association will seek Internet delivery of the FSSMC Refresher Course through Illinois CES sites. Web-based instruction will facilitate delivery of a statewide core curriculum, particularly to more isolated areas in the state that lack FSSMC instructors and course availability.
