POPULATION MANAGEMENT OF INSECTS TO PROTECT STORED PRODUCTS

To develop pest management programs with reduced dependence on traditional chemical pesticides. New methods need to be developed for the manipulation of the genetics & development of stored product commodities. Integrated pest management of stored product insects will depend on the appropriate use of biorational pestcides, genetic manipulation of pest insects, inhibition of mating with pheromones and use of biological control.
