The goals of this study are to gather preliminary data on the ecology of bovine anaplasmosis and assess the risk of bovine theileriosis - an emerging disease in the U.S. - in Ohio. Specifically, our aims are to:1. Determine whether ticks that infest Ohio livestock harbor the livestock pathogens Anaplasma marginale or Theileria orientalis.2. Characterize the species and genotypes of Anaplasmataceae pathogens circulating in Ohio cattle herds.
