Preserving Food Safety

Objective

The objective of this project is to train consultants, establish two community kitchens, and teach limited income families food preservation methods.

More information

Food Preservation Consultant training will be scheduled for the White Earth Reservation and Hubbard County. Trained consultants will team with Extension Nutrition Education Assistants and a Community Program Assistant to teach food safety and safe home food preservation methods. During the summer the two kitchens will be learning centers as produce from community and family gardens is canned, frozen and dried. A food safety newsletter will be included for program participants as well as the use of canning equipment in their homes.
