In the last twenty years there has been a significant increase in the number of produce-associated foodborne disease outbreaks in the U.S. The major objective of this project is to plan, develop and implement a series of 2+ day train-the-trainer workshops on good agricultural practices and food safety assurance techniques for the agricultural community in eight states in the Northeastern U.S. Through these workshops, farmers will better understand the principles of safe food production and be able to reduce the risks of pathogenic organisms on the fruits and vegetables that they grow.
