Objective

The Conference of Research Workers in Animal Disease (CRWAD) is an organization for the discussion and dissemination of research findings in animal disease and food safety. The goal of the proposal is to host a conference that provides conference members with an educating and stimulating environment for the creation of new ideas in the areas of animal disease and food safety. Also to provide a forum for the exchange of information on basic and applied mechanisms of diseases from a broad discipline base; information on basic and applied mechanisms of diseases from a broad discipline base and for interactions between those who have a primary focus on animal pathogens, and other national and international investigators whose techniques and ideas may be valuable in resolving problems in animal diseases and/or food safety.

More information

The CRWAD currently has a membership of 427 individuals with 113 holding life membership terms. The annual meeting is held from Sunday thru Tuesday during the second week of November. Attendance is limited to members, participants, and guests invited by the council. The average attendance of the meeting is 300 with 325 presentations. This year, the 2004 meeting will be held in Chicago, Illinois from November 14-16. The annual conference is the only conference in North America which has oral and poster presentations in animal disease and food safety. One of the great resources of the CRWAD is a freely available membership list which facilitates interactions between researchers.

To provide information on basic and applied mechanisms of diseases from a broad discipline base and for interactions between those who have a primary focus on animal pathogens, and other national and international investigators whose techniques and ideas may be valuable in resolving problems in animal diseases and/or food safety. To bring the varied disciplines together the CRWAD annual conference provides the setting. An important mission of CRWAD is to provide support for eight satellite organizations, which would not be able to meet if not for the annual meeting of CRWAD. CRWAD also, takes considerable pride in the fact that it is one of the few organizations that has a strong tradition of promoting graduate student participation at its meeting.
