To develop a model SQF integrated food safety and quality program and train dairy producers and retail operators in SQF.
To facilitate the implementation of SQF with the producers selected for the program.

More information

Although agriculture producers play an initial role in the food safety chain, for the most part, they have received little training and assistance to implement food safety programs. Retail operators face their own unique challenges ensuring food safety. A program developed by Agriculture Western Australia called SQF considers both safety and quality. The SQF Quality code is designed to offer benefits to businesses in all links in the food supply chain. The dairy producers and retail operators who participate in this program will receive food safety training specific for their operations Dairy producers will be instructed on proper farm food safety practices.Retail operators will receive assistance with employee food safety issues and the use of modern technology food safety equipment to better ensure safety of their products. On farm dairy practices and behavior practices will be analyzed in a survey format. A survey analysis will provide information on how food safety behaviors are changed. This will provide unique information to food safety educators to develop food safety programs.
