Significant variation in Salmonella prevalence, to include PLN prevalence, has been observed among cattle operations in different, as well as within, regions of the United States. Therefore without corresponding PLN prevalence to compare to environmental/fecal prevalence, conclusions on the impact of the latter on the former, are purely speculative. This research
focused on operations within a region and will include PLN collections.

The objectives of this research were to investigate potential explanations for the seasonal and regional differences in lymph node prevalence of Salmonella in feedlot cattle, and to elucidate the factors responsible for the differences observed in lymph node prevalence of Salmonella between fed beef and dairy cattle within the SW United States.
