To organize and convene the Second Governor's Conference on Ensuring Meat Safety: E. coli O157:H7 - Progress and Challenges? To review recent applied and basic research progress and to describe the status of current interventions efforts To discuss where future research should be directed.
Intertnationally recognized scientists will be invited to speak at this conference. Industry experts will also be represented. Panel discussions and poster sessions will be included to facilitate discussion and exchange of information.

E. coli O157:H7 continues to be one of the most serious food borne pathogens in the food supply. To define the emerging issues related to the E. coli problem and to develop and implement plans for how those issues can be addressed.

This project involves the organization of a conference to be held in April, 2003. We have extended invitations to the participants and have made most of the logistical arrangements.
