Statewide Monitoring of Aspergillus flavus AF36

Objective

Determine the impact of crop rotations common in Arizona on the magnitude and composition of Aspergillus flavus populations.
Establish sentinel sites throughout Arizona in order to establish baseline values on which to measure regional changes in A. flavus communities.

More information

Aspergillus flavus communities in the desert agricultural areas of Arizona will be characterized at 10 locations distant (over 10 miles) from areas where atoxigenic strains are being applied. Incidence of the S strain and of A. flavus AF36 will be established. Changes to the communities resulting from atoxigenic strain applications will be subsequently determined.
