Public Health Relevance: Type III secretion system (TTSS) is encoded by many bacterial pathogens, including Shigella, Salmonella, Bordetella, Pseudomonas, and pathogenic E. coli that are pathogenic for humans and cause diseases such as plague, typhoid fever, bacterial dysentery and common food poisoning.
