To chemically characterize the proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of synthetic organic precursor molecules used in the preparation nanoscale delivery devices for agricultural chemicals.
Candidate organic molecules will be dissolved in appropriate aprotic or deuterium-substituted protic solvents, placed in 3-mm NMR tubes, and 1H- and(or) 13C-NMR spectra will be collected using typical protocols. In some instances hetero-nuclear routines (e.g., COSY, NOESY, INADEQUATE, etc) will be run in order to determine relationships among specific proton-carbon combinations.
