SUCCESSION OF AVIAN PATHOGENIC ESCHERICHIA COLI STRAINS IN THE POULTRY ENVIRONMENT

Objective

Our main goal will be to identify the new emerging APEC O types that are causing colibacillosis. Our supporting objectives will be to:• Identify the serogroups that are present in four poultry production farms (2 conventional and 2 antibiotic free);• Identify the serogroups that are present in diagnostic samples from PDRC• Correlate the serogroups to the most common virulence factors;• Develop a multiplex diagnostic assay for the new top 10 most frequently associated APEC O types.
