SuMAS: Student Internships and Faculty Training in Sustainable Management of Agricultural Systems

Broaden UPRM undergraduate students' awareness and knowledge about SuMAS-SAI practices through experiential learning internships in exemplary SuMAS-SAI research programs at Cornell University and agriculture and food related industries in New York's Finger Lake Region and in Puerto Rico.Strengthen UPRM graduate students' research and academic experience by providing opportunities for UPRM students to engage in SuMAS-SAI activities and research in collaboration with Cornell University faculty, graduate students, and research teams.Increase professional and academic readiness of Hispanic undergraduate students in agriculture to better serve Puerto Rico's local and the national agriculture and food system needs.Improve UPRM-CAS education and curricula by developing educational modules on SuMAS-SAI.Provide opportunities for professional development for UPRM faculty through workshops and interactions with Cornell University faculty and staff
