Our project goal is to identify, develop, validate and rapidly deliver practical cleaning and disinfection strategies and quantitative risk models for science-based decision making that will reduce the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus and exposure of workers to the virus in meat and poultry (M&P) processing environments. Objective 1: Characterize sources of exposure and associated concentrations of infectious SARS-CoV-2 in M&P processing environments during and after simulated meat processing and packaging in KSU's BSL-3 Ag pilot plant facility. Objective 2: Evaluate the efficacy of standard cleaning and disinfection strategies to reduce infectious SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces in the meat processing environment.
