Food Safety Research Information Office

The Food Safety Research Information Office (FSRIO) supports the research community by collecting, organizing, and disseminating food safety information in accordance with the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998.

FSRIO’s key information products include the Research Projects Database (RPD), Research Publications Feed, and the Meet the Experts webpages. Resources on foundational information about various food safety topics and grey literature from credited government, public and private organizations are also tracked.

Funding opportunities for food safety research projects are available from the following agencies. Be sure to check back often as new funding opportunities will be listed.

  • On November 04, 2021, FDA will co-host the Stop Foodborne Illness webinar series to explore the food safety culture. To register for the webinar, visit Upcoming Events - Stop Foodborne Illness.
  • On October 26-28th join the Food Safety Research Information Office (FSRIO) team as we particiapte as a virtual exhibitor at the next International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) 2020 Virtual conference.  You can meet the FSRIO team on Monday, October 26th and Tuesday, October 27th between the hours of 11:30am-1:00pm EDT and 4:00-5:00pm EDT.  We will also be online on Wednesday, October 28th between the hours of 12:00-1:00pm Eastern and 4:00-5:00pm Eastern. We hope to see you online!
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has scheduled a 1 hour webinar entitled "New Era of Smarter Food Safety" on October 26, 2020 at 3:00pm EDT. The webinar is about the first 100 days after its release of the New Era of Smarter Food Safety blueprint. Deputy Commissioner Frank Yiannas will discuss the new approach the agency is taking with food safety by leveraging technology and other tools to create a safer and a more digital and traceable food system.   • The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) webinar "Science Connections -- Accessing Tools to Support Your Literature Review" is now available to view online. The slide presentation is available for download.
